Concept of the Logo: The logo is symbolic of various facets of the environment. The circular Form conveys its universal quality. The numerous vertical lines emphasize the multi-dimensional character of the problems of environmental planning and coordination. The four horizontal strata are indicative of the main resource groups: terrestrial, aquatic, biotic and solar. The graded vertical ascending strips suggest the yearning of man for a better life in a cleaner environment.

Deepening and widening of the Bhabhada Spill Channel

The sub project is for widening and deepening the approach channel to spillway from the Upper Lake in order to accommodate a discharge of 566 cum/sec, so that heading up of water during floods can be avoided thereby reducing any possible threats to the stability of the earthen dam at Kamla Park. The spillway of the Upper Lake is located at Bhadbhada on the Kaliasote river. Continued deposition of silt during the past 33 years and with the provision of existing narrow channel section that had been originally provided has practically obstruted the smooth flow in the 4.41 km long approach channel to the spillway. Further the deposition of silt accumulated near weir over along period causes high silt pressure on the weir. Insufficient discharge capacity of the spill way system causes heading up of water in the upper lake and hence causes a threat to the dam at Kamla Park. The deepening and widening works have been carried out in 2.6 km long spill channel to increase the discharge capacity and about 9.87 lakh cubic meter silt has been removed .The channel has been given a proper shape to attain the required discharge.

Construction of Idols/ Tajias Immersion bay at Prempura (Bhadbhada)

The immersion of Idols/ Tajias in different places at Lower and Upper lake has given rise to settling of soil as well as the chemicals used for the preparation of idols causing adverse effect on the water quality. Bhopal Municipal Corporation under Bhoj Wetland Project has constructed an immersion bay as an alternative arrangement at Prempura. About 35% of the immersion has been successfully diverted to the Prempura bay during the year 1999 and the percentage increased to 38% in the year 2000.
