Solid Waste Management
The main objective of this sub-project is to improve the solid waste management and facilities with in the catchment area of upper and lower lake in order to prevent pollution of the lakes by the direct or indirect entry of solid wastes into the lakes. The Solid Waste Management sub-project is being implemented in following 18 municipal wards under the catchment area of the upper and lower lake-

 Municipal Corporation is able to collect only 96 tonne per day of garbage as against 131 tonne per day the sub project area and dump it at the site of disposal located in Bhanpur which is 12 km. away from the city. Presently the Municipal Corporation has limited infrastructure for solid waste management in the city. Apart from the sewage and
sullage, solid waste also contributes to the pollution of the lakes. This sub project provides for solid waste management in wards in the catchment area near the lakes, which generate these wastes. All infrastructural facilities such as 2 refuse compactor, 150 metal container, 2 mini trucks, 1 big trucks, 2 dumper placers, 20 containers of dumper placers, 100 wheel barrows, 1 electronic weighing machine and 1 sewer cleaning machines have been provided to Bhopal Municipal Corporation for managing the solid waste of the city and effective system has been created for waste disposal and recycling of garbage and checking solid wastage to enter into the lake which gives good sanitation facility. A training programmed has been organised for the officers associated with solid waste management by Bhopal Municipal Corporation and during the month of October training has been given to employees
