Department for International Development (DFID)

The Department for International Development (DFID) is the UK government’s department responsible for the UK’s contribution to global efforts to eliminate poverty. India is a key partner for UK both nationally and internationally in the worldwide effort to achieve the UN’s Millennium Development Goal. DFID works in partnership with the Government of India to achieve its national development targets and its commitment to the Millennium Development Goals.

DFID India, with its headquarters in New Delhi, is part of the family. It implements DFID’s largest single overseas program contributing to poverty eradication. DFID believes that the eradication of poverty in India, which is home to one third of the world’s poorest, is central to achieving success in our global war against poverty.
